A Celebrant Career in Spain - Trained, Accredited, Locally Supported
If you're living on the Costa Blanca and exploring a future as a wedding or funeral celebrant, you've probably noticed the same gap Denise and I did: there's real demand for skilled, professional celebrants here, especially within the English-speaking community, but very few training options actually meet recognised standards.
We’ve joined forces to bring together the two things you need to do this properly:
Accredited training, delivered personally by me, Dinah Liversidge, through the Celebrant Coaching & Training Academy.
Local, on-the-ground mentoring, from Denise Whelan, an experienced wedding planner and celebrant working right here on the Costa Blanca who understands the realities of the role in this market.
Train properly. Get accredited. Be supported locally, by someone who's doing the job too.
Why This Matters
A lot of celebrant courses look appealing online, nice branding, big promises, sometimes even a retreat thrown in. But many of them aren't recognised by official training bodies. That means no external standards, no accountability, and little credibility when you're sitting in front of a grieving family or a couple planning their wedding day.
If you're serious about building a celebrant career here, you deserve training that's properly accredited and endorsed, and support that understands what the job actually looks like on the Costa Blanca.
That's exactly what this partnership offers.
Part One: Your Training, With Me
I've been a practising funeral celebrant since 2009 and have spent nearly 30 years training, coaching and mentoring people across a range of professions. My Wedding and Funeral Celebrant Training programmes are NOCN Endorsed (National Open College Network), so you can be confident you're working towards a qualification that's genuinely recognised, not just something that looks good on a website.
Training is delivered one-to-one over Zoom, across seven weeks, for either:
Wedding Celebrant Training, or
Funeral Celebrant Training
Many students choose to complete both. Each programme includes weekly live sessions with me personally on Zoom, lifetime access to recordings and materials, personalised feedback on every assignment, and a CPD-accredited safeguarding module. You'll find the full detail of what's covered, and what you'll walk away with, on the individual training pages linked below.
This part of your journey doesn't change, wherever you're based in the world. You'll have the same quality of training, care and attention as every other CCTA student.
Part Two: Local Support, With Denise
Training gives you the foundation. Working with real clients, in a real market, is where it becomes real, and that's where a lot of newly qualified celebrants feel stuck. You understand the theory, but you're navigating clients, venues, planners and expectations largely on your own.
This is where Denise Whelan comes in.
Denise is a Wedding Planner and Celebrant based on the Costa Blanca, creating stylish, meaningful weddings for couples who care about purpose, people and the planet. From sea-view ceremonies to vineyard vows, she works closely with trusted local suppliers and takes the time to really get to know every couple she works with, so the ceremonies she delivers, and the celebrants she supports, genuinely reflect the people in front of her.
That same honest, values-led approach is what she brings to mentoring newly trained celebrants. She knows the Costa Blanca wedding market from the inside, the suppliers, the venues, the rhythm of the season, and what couples here are actually looking for.
Once you've completed your training with me, you have the option to continue with Denise's Ongoing Mentorship Programme, designed specifically to help newly trained celebrants bridge the gap between qualification and confident, paid practice on the Costa Blanca, whether your focus is weddings, funerals, or both.
What's Included Each Month
Monthly Group Mentoring Session - focused, practical sessions built around real situations, not theory
Individual Check-In - a short, focused 1:1 call to help you stay on track
Private Peer Group - a space to ask questions and learn alongside other celebrants working on the Costa Blanca
Access to Additional 1:1 Coaching - available at €145 per hour, if you'd like deeper, more personal support
The Investment
€125 per month. Ongoing support, with no long-term commitment, and you can cancel anytime.
This mentorship is for celebrants who are newly trained or just starting to work with clients, and who want honest, practical guidance, not vague theory, as they build their confidence and their business.

Choose to continue with Denise's Ongoing Mentorship, if you'd like local, hands-on support as you take on your first clients on the Costa Blanca.
